Zu’bi & Partners Legal Consultants are pleased to inform you that the second virtual meeting for Restructuring and Insolvency Professionals will be held on Monday, 14 December 2020 from 3:00-5:00 Bahrain Time.

The objective of the meeting is for the delegates to discuss and exchange views on various matters, including the roles of trustees under the Federal Decree- Law No. 9 of 2016 on Bankruptcy (as amended) (the ‘UAE Bankruptcy Law’) and recent amendments to the relevant restructuring laws in the region.

This coming event will also focus on discussing the recent amendments to the UAE Bankruptcy Law including the implementation of tailored Bankruptcy Procedures in the event of Emergency Financial Crises under UAE Law.

Specifically, this meeting will discuss:

1. A mechanism    that    is    triggered in emergency / disaster situations (i.e. such as Covid-19) to temporarily protect debtors  who  are  compromised by such events without fault.

2. Amending the voting rights of  creditors during Preventative Composition Procedures,  Restructuring or Bankruptcy.

3. The options available for debtors to avoid bankruptcy.

One of the most important goals of this meeting is to create a suitable platform and network of professional bankruptcy and insolvency practitioners to facilitate interaction and discussion between our colleagues in the region.
